How do suppliers manage cabinet pricing per builder and per option level?

Builder services suppliers price each builder by door, hardware and crown level in KitchenDEV Builder Programs, with one cover sheet for every plan.

Builder services suppliers manage cabinet pricing per builder by giving each builder its own pricing structure, with multipliers and price points at every door, hardware and crown level, and then pricing every plan from that structure. KitchenDEV Builder Programs stores each builder's structure as a series, prices the base house and every upgrade from it, and exports one cover sheet per plan for the builder.

A series in KitchenDEV Builder Programs is a reusable per-builder pricing structure with its own door, hardware and crown levels, a level on every door, and the builder's own pricing options.

Why is per-builder cabinet pricing hard to keep in a spreadsheet?#

Per-builder cabinet pricing is hard to keep in a spreadsheet because the structure multiplies. A builder services supplier keeps a different multiplier structure for every builder it serves, at several door levels each, across several markets. Each plan then needs a sheet the builder can hand to a homebuyer, showing what the base house costs and what every upgrade adds. Done by hand, the sheet is rebuilt every time a plan or a price changes, and the margin leaks through the cells nobody re-checked.

Pricing builder bids and options in one system means each builder's series is set up once, and every plan priced from it gets the same options and the same math.

How does KitchenDEV Builder Programs price each builder differently?#

  • A series per builder. A series is assigned to a builder, and a bid created from that series offers only the doors and options the series carries.
  • Multiplier tiers. KitchenDEV Builder Programs sets multipliers globally, per customer type and per individual builder, with a style-level override at each tier. Door-style multipliers can also be overridden on a single bid.
  • Cost overrides. Cost multipliers can be overridden per door, drawer, crown and lightrail, on the series or on the bid.
  • Option levels. Hardware runs to five levels, and door levels are assigned door by door within a series. A new bid from a series starts at the lowest door level.
  • Priced add-ons. Since September 2026, add-ons such as soft-close doors are set per vendor catalog with their own cost and margin, and priced per door from each cabinet's door count or as a flat price.
  • Labor by market. Labor is priced per market, and changing the market on an existing bid recalculates the labor.

What is a base house, and how is the base house priced?#

A base house is the cabinet package the builder pays for, with everything above it sold to the homebuyer as an upgrade. When a base house is set up in KitchenDEV Builder Programs, the cheapest option in each category is selected automatically, and a price summary block on the bid shows the base house breakdown.

What does a builder cover sheet show?#

A builder cover sheet from KitchenDEV Builder Programs is one Excel file per plan, showing the base house price and the price of every upgrade option, sorted from cheapest to most expensive. Each cover sheet carries Builder, Series, Plan Number, Plan Name, Market, Community, Box Count and Date rows. Any section can be left out with a toggle. A priced add-on prints as its own section listing the lines it applies to, so a series that mixes two vendor lines charges the add-on only where the line carries it.

What happens when a price list or a series changes?#

  • Scale a series. All margins and prices in a series can be scaled by a percentage in one step.
  • Copy or lock a series. A series can be copied to start the next builder, or locked against edits.
  • Edit with a warning. Editing a series that live plans already use asks first: copy the series, or confirm the change should reach every plan on it.
  • Update many items at once. An option can be added to every item with a matching SKU from the same vendor in one step, instead of item by item.

KitchenDEV builds the vendor catalogs a supplier prices from, using the price sheets and spec books the supplier sends. What sets the subscription is listed under what KitchenDEV Builder Programs pricing depends on: builders and plans, markets, houses per year and product lines.
