Cabinet manufacturers give each dealer their own pricing online by setting a multiplier or price level for each dealer in a dealer portal, so every dealer sees the same catalog at that dealer's own prices. KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal & Order Automation stores each dealer's multipliers, price levels and customer-specific rates, and prices every estimate and order from them.
How does dealer-specific pricing work in a dealer portal?#
Dealer-specific pricing works from one catalog and one list price per item. Each dealer account in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal carries a multiplier or a price level, and the portal applies that dealer's multiplier to the list price whenever the dealer adds an item to an estimate. Two dealers looking at the same base cabinet see two different prices, and neither dealer can see the other dealer's pricing.
KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal calculates each price when the dealer builds the estimate, so dealers work from the manufacturer's current list prices and multipliers rather than a saved price sheet.
What pricing rules can a manufacturer set per dealer?#
- A multiplier for each dealer. KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal applies the dealer's multiplier to the catalog list price on every line.
- Price levels. A manufacturer can put dealers on shared price levels and move a dealer from one level to another.
- Customer-specific rates. A single account can carry its own rate where one dealer has negotiated terms.
- Different multipliers by category. When hardware, cabinets and other products sit in their own categories, styles or lines, the same dealer can have a different multiplier for each one.
- Multiplier sets limited to certain charges. A multiplier set in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal can apply only to items, modifications, assembly fees or upcharges, so a discount reaches the charges it was meant for and nothing else.
- A project multiplier. A project in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal carries its own multiplier, which starts at the dealer's default and can be changed for one large job without touching the dealer's account.
Can dealers show retail prices to their own customers?#
Dealers can show retail prices to homeowners when the manufacturer turns on Retail Mode in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal. In Retail Mode, the dealer's quotes and PDFs show retail prices instead of the dealer's cost. With the Retail Mode module, the manufacturer can set each dealer's retail multiplier and see the dealer price and the retail price side by side.
Who can change dealer pricing?#
Pricing access in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal is a permission. A manufacturer can give a team member access to product content without access to pricing or multipliers. The audit log records who changed a multiplier or a catalog item, and when.
What still takes work?#
- Setting list prices. Dealer pricing in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal runs from list price down. A manufacturer that prices cost-plus today sets list prices so each dealer's multiplier lands on the dealer price the manufacturer wants. KitchenDEV walks through that math with each manufacturer on the manufacturer's real numbers.
- Promotions. A promotion in KitchenDEV's Dealer Portal is a discount multiplier set assigned to the dealers in the promotion. Someone ends the promotion by hand. Nothing is scheduled.
- Flat charges. Delivery, install and shop drawings go on a quote as miscellaneous charges, which pass through exactly as entered with no multiplier or tax.
